Read the evidence
Sources, with their limits
Different sources answer different questions. A study can evaluate outcomes in a particular group; a teaching resource can explain an exercise without proving its effectiveness. Neither automatically validates our timer settings or original scripts.
How to read our references
- Trials: check who participated, what they practiced, and for how long. Results from repeated sessions do not establish the same outcome from one brief attempt.
- Reviews: consider which methods and populations were included. A finding about slow breathing in general may not apply to every named pattern.
- Teaching resources: university and VA guidance helps explain an exercise. It is not a controlled test of this website.
- Original scripts: our wording has not been tested for clinical outcomes. References supply context for the format, not validation of the text.
